As a way of closing a period in which we added collaborators and followers and the work spaces were expanded, Travel Trade Caribbean celebrated its 21 years of work as the only media specializing in tourism accredited in Cuba.
The festivity was held at the Alicia Alonso Grand Theater of Havana’s El Tablao, with the presence of representatives of the International Press Center, headed by its director, Alberto González Casals; representatives of the Ministry of Tourism, joint ventures, Cuban and associated hotel chains, airlines, travel agencies and tour operators, service providers, the Foreign Trade Institute of Italy, colleagues of the specialized press, friends and collaborators of TTC.
Dr. Josefina Pichardo, TTC’s correspondent in Cuba, thanked the participants for their courtesy and summed up the principal achievements of the year that is closing, among them the journalistic coverage of the principal events of the smokeless industry in the Caribbean region, which the publication took to the sector’s most important events worldwide.
“During 2017 TTC has expanded its product portfolio, mainly in terms of digital products, a working line that we plan to extend even more in the coming 2018, as well as expanding and diversifying our presence in the trade fairs and specialized events in the tourist sector for which we will prepare specific products,” she said.
Moreover, she added that a greater reach is previewed for the digital products, according to the new tendencies, with formats like email marketing and promotion from the social media.
In 2017 the publication stood out in the journalistic work after the passage of the hurricanes that affected tourism in the region: it maintained in each edition, as well as in its digital products, the updates about the process of recovery, especially in Cuba, which earned it the recognition by the Ministry of Tourism.
Another novelty in 2017 and which will continue being developed next year is the YOU GO by Travel Trade Caribbean tour operator, through which the Cuba destination and the South of Italy is already being sold with good results.
The social cocktail had the organizational support of the Artex S.A. Artistic and Literary Promotions Enterprise and the Havanatur S.A. International Tour Operators and Travel Agencies Group. The medium-sized format group María Alejandra y Cubanía was in charge of the music, a young but talented project that put everyone to dance with authentic Cuban music.
