Trinidad and Tobago Expands Hotel Infrastructure

Port-of-Spain.- In anticipation of a significant arrival increase due to an aggressive campaign, Trinidad and Tobago will add more than 200 new rooms to the islands’ present stock, announced the local delegation attending the World Travel Market tourism trade show in London.

The new five hotels and resorts are located in the village of Lambeau, in Tobago, and in the capital Port of Spain, in Trinidad.

Within the next 18 months, residents of the village of Lambeau, in Tobago, will witness the inauguration of the 79-suite, four-star hotel Indigo Bay, and another 66-unit property.

In the heart of downtown Port of Spain, in Trinidad, the Financial Complex Suites Limited is expected to open in December 2014. The 79 room hotel will feature two presidential suites, a spa, gym, meeting and conference facilities, concierge services and a restaurant.

In the nearby Piarco International Airport, the new Regent Star opened 55 of its 125 rooms in June 2013 offering 16 executive suites, 48 deluxe rooms and 61 economy rooms. The rest of the rooms are due for completion in early 2014.

Refurbishment of the 243-room Capital Plaza Hotel -to be franchised into the Radisson Hotels International Inc. brand- will last until January 2015.
