Signs of recovery of the Caribbean tourism industry

Bridgetown.- The Caribbean tourism industry continued to show signs of recovery during 2012, fuelled by improvements in the United States and Canadian markets, according to a report of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO).

Dominican Republic is one of the top destinations for 2013

London.–  According to British Airways, Dominican Republic is one of the top 13 destinations to visit in 2013 as a result of poll on the airline’s Facebook page. Over 2,660 users nominated the overseas destinations they most want to visit next year and the Dominican Republic made the list. 

New investments in Cuba of the Spanish hotel chain Melia

Havana.- Spanish Meliá Hotels International chain announces plans of new investments in Cuba.  A Prensa latina Cuba agency report said that Melia plans to renovate and repair the facilities it runs in Cuba, where they will provide new services, and announced it will start managing other hotels in 2013.

Great 2012 for tourism in Mexico

Mexico City.- Claudia Ruiz Massieu Salinas, the new Mexican secretary of tourism will start her job with strategies 100% focused on the 2012 tourism job at hand,  said Alfonso Sumano, regional director for North America for the Mexico Tourism Board.

Sheraton will manage a hotel in Santo Domingo

Santo Domingo.- The Sheraton hotel chain will once again managed the Melia Santo Domingo Hotel after nearly 10 years of being operated by Spanish chain Sol Meliá.
