A new Disaster Preparedness Manual published this week aims to the prevention and preparedness phase against hurricanes includes structural and nonstructural vulnerability assessments, maintenance requirements, retrofitting requirements, emergency supplies, mutual aid agreements, guest information, training, insurance, community liaison, vital records and guest security.
According to the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association’s Caribbean Travel Update, “70 percent of our Caribbean destinations were not affected by the storms and that the majority of hotels across the region are fully operational and open for business.”
The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association CHTA launched a job bank in order to help candidates out of work because of hurricanes to find tourism-related employment opportunities.
Sparked by the need to assist Caribbean tourism industry workers impacted by last fall’s hurricanes, the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) has created a “jobs bank” to match candidates with tourism-related employment opportunities.
