Mexico.- This is the first time ever that the Holy See receives a delegation from the Latin American Confederation of Tourism Organizations (COTAL), headed by its president, Armando Bojorquez Patron, and made up by authorities and businesspeople from the Latin American tourism sector.
In 2017 COTAL made history. It is our continent’s oldest tourism institution, officially registered in Argentina with 22 member countries and more than 7,000 travel agents as partners. Founded in the city of Acapulco, Mexico, in 1957, this year it is celebrating its 60th anniversary.
Such an important commemoration has had a very varied agenda of activities throughout these 12 months, starting with the Acapulco Tourist Tianguis Fair, where its new Board of Directors was sworn in and closing in December with the visit to Rome by a delegation of 40 persons comprising authorities and businesspeople of the Latin American tourism sector, who will make a four-day circuit called “100 hours.”
As the high point of this trip, in the Wednesday December 6 audience they will be able to live the unforgettable experience and contact with His Holiness Pope Francis, who in addition will bless the flags and images of the Patron Saints of all the Latin American countries, which will later be placed on public display in the capitals of the region beginning with the city of Buenos Aires.
This exhibit bears the name of “PATRON SAINTS” and is included in the plan promoted from the institution to strengthen the concept of Religious Tourism.
On Thursday December 7 the COTAL delegation will be able to visit the beautiful sites of the Region of Lazio to then in the evening close with an elegant reception offered by the Rome Tourism Authorities and the company that organized the momentous event called “Universal Judgment” to be premiered March next year.
In 2018 COTAL is starting a new decade of life, with a vision of integration and projection of Latin American Tourism, according to the demands and challenges of current times.
“AMERICA IS MORE LATINA” has been the slogan that accompanies this new endeavor, in the hands of a competent team of professionals who have positioned it again as the leading institution of Tourism in the region.
