Bussines Wire service said the survey examined 30 popular Caribbean destinations based on their cost of lodging. This upcoming February, the Caribbean’s high season, served as the timeframe focus. The cost for the cheapest available double room with a rating of at least 3 stars served as the basis of comparison.
In Santo Domingo, one of the Caribbean’s oldest cities, travelers will have to spend just $43 for the least expensive room this February. Punta Cana, the other Dominican Republic destination considered by the survey, ranks 27th, or fourth least expensive, among all the locales considered. Its February overnight rate averages $87.
“On the other end of the spectrum, St. Barts, a French overseas collectivity, ranks as the priciest destination in the Caribbean. An average nightly price tag of $324 for its most affordable room, renders it the Caribbean’s most expensive locale. That figure represents in excess of 600% more than the same room in Santo Domingo” the study added.
