The ICE-Agency for promotion abroad and the internationalization of Italian companies is present at the 15th Health for All Trade Fair, which is in session until this Thursday at the Pabexpo fairgrounds in Havana.

One of the Italian companies exhibiting at the event is LED SpA, dedicated to the manufacture of medical devices, such as electric scalpels — its flagship product — and equipment for surgery, physiotherapy, dentistry and aesthetics, in addition to a specialized line in the branch of veterinary medicine.

Marcela Ivonne Schiaffini, the firm’s sales manager for Latin America, commented that they have all the quality certifications required in the field of biomedicine — ISO13485 — and that they are among the first Italian companies to certify their electrosurgical units under the new European regulation — the MDR.

In fact, one of the products designed and produced by the company, the Surtron Touch HP, has been awarded by the Italian Design Institute.

“Therefore, we are talking about a safe, proven product that is ready to work with international markets,” said the manager.

Schiaffini also specified that this product is the result of Italian engineering, from the creation of the electronic part to the software and assembly. “All made in Italy,” she noted.

Present in the market since 1982, LED SpA currently sells in 122 countries in the world; and particularly, in Latin America they are present in nations such as Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Chile and Argentina.

“We work with the largest Latin American importers, both privately and at the state level, and we have excellent references in this market. This is why we believe that in a country like Cuba we can also make ourselves known and surely offer our support to the surgical sector,” Schiaffini stated.

Located in the central region of Italy, 35 km south of Rome, in Aprilia, LED SpA has four decades of experience and the quality of its devices earned it position 74 out of the 4,000 Italian companies that most export.
