For practical reasons, this annual event has been pushed back two months. Frédéric LORIN, Trade Show Director, explains:
“After this unparalleled crisis, we believe more than ever that it is essential to bring together professionals from the tourism industry.
At the same time, as organisers, IFTM Top Resa must be able to provide a safe and stress-free environment for the trade show.
We contacted around one hundred of our institutional partners and loyal exhibitors to listen carefully to their expectations and needs, and think about practical possibilities.
Around 95% of them requested that the trade show be postponed until November; most producers and tourist destinations need time to work on their offerings, as many of them have been reduced to part-time work, following a 3-month lockdown and a huge slowdown in their business.
More generally, everyone in the industry wants more time before financially committing to attending the trade show. I am delighted to officially announce that this essential event will be taking place – it is the only annual trade show in France that brings together all segments of this industry that has been so heavily impacted by the crisis – with a focus on returning to business as usual in 2021.”
This year, the leading French B2B trade show for the tourism industry will propose 10 separate zones (Africa, the Americas, Asia & Pacific, Caribbean, Destination France, Europe & Mediterranean, Generalists, Middle East, Indian Ocean, Tech Zone) and 10 thematic villages (Coach Operators, Business Travel, Parks, Cruises, Networks, Tour Operators, Mountain, and Influencers, Innovation and Start-up in the Tech Zone).
In 2019, IFTM Top Resa welcomed 34,150 visitors and 1,700 brands including over 200 (French and international) destinations in a 33,000 m2 exhibition space, and offered around 100 thematic conference sessions by IFTM and 100 events organised by exhibitors.
OUR PRIORITY: HEALTH MEASURES TO KEEP EVERYONE SAFE
IFTM Top Resa has already worked on regulating capacities and flows in response to Covid-19; simple and effective measures to enable everyone to enjoy the show in a healthy and serene environment. The devices are evolutive and the information will be brought in due time.
NEW THIS YEAR
Over the past few months, IFTM Top Resa has been working on creating new conference sessions on major cross-cutting topics for an expert take on the latest market trends. The usual thematic days will also be in place, in particular, CEO Talks, Digital Day and the International Business Travel Days (JIVA). In partnership with ATD (Acteurs du Tourisme Durable), this November the trade show will see the launch of a comprehensive programme of conference sessions and workshops entitled “Sustainable Tourism Days”.
This year, IFTM Top Resa has created a dedicated continuing professional development programme for travel agents, in partnership with Entreprises du Voyages.
Like every year, the trade show is creating new spaces. The Tour Operators Village and Cruises Village are both getting a makeover in 2020 – with sand and straw huts for the first, and portholes and boating equipment for the other… taking you on a well-deserved (working!) holiday.
Visitor itineraries will have two new themes this year – Mountains and Cruises. Itineraries are designed to attract people’s attention and encourage them to explore the trade show in a cross-industry way where they can discover new products and services. They will be fully digital via the IFTM Top Resa app.
