Government to Provide Dominican Republic’s Saona Island Clean Power

Bayahibe, Dominican Republic.- Over 100 families at the village of Mano Juan, Saona Island, southeast of the Dominican Republic, will benefit from the construction of a clean energy power plant that will bring electricity to that village for the first time.

The 12 million dollar plant is built by the Environment Ministry with Taiwan government funding.

Around 300 people, a clinic, a grade school, a computer center and the Navy and Police stations will directly benefit from the project, in compliance with the environmental protection regulations of the National Park of the East, of which the island forms part.
