Santo Domingo.- Tourism Minister Francisco Javier Garcia said more than 4.6 million visitors came to Dominican Republic in 2012, and predicted continued growth for 2013.
Garcia added that the country is on the path to reach President Danilo Medina’s proposed goal of 10 million tourists for the next 10 years.
According to the Minister, Dominican Republic’s tourism growth paced the world’s 4% and the Caribbean’s 4.8%. “With this growth, more than two percentage points higher than the global and the Caribbean tourism, we again demonstrated the great year we achieved in the Dominican Republic”, he said.
Garcia expressed the more than 4.6 million tourists hold the projected goal of 10 million by 2022 on track.
