Dominican Republic promote tourist culture to improve a destination

The Central America Tourism Integration secretary Mercedes Melendez kicked off the panel topic “Cultural Tourism for the general population as a tool to enhance a destination’s experience,” in the 2nd Dominican Annual Tourism Forum (FODATUR 2012).

Santo Domingo.-The creation of a tourist culture to  improve a destination can sensitize all stakeholders, tourists, define roles and responsibilities and contribute to the recovery and preservation of its natural and cultural heritage, said an statement by The Central America Tourism Integration.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) funded the event, hosted by the Dominican Tourism Competitiveness Consortium (CDCT) through the program “Empowerment for Sustainable Tourism.”

“A tourism culture incorporates the social, cultural, environmental and economic needs of communities and countries, and oriented towards community benefits, of better said, it provides profits for every person and sectors involved,” Melendez said.
