Havana.- Cuba will launch a tourism promotion campaign from 16 to 23 June in the Mexican cities of Monterrey, Guadalajara, León, Querétaro and Mexico City, the Ministry of Tourism said (Mintur).
The campaign, called “Authentic Cuba”, is considered as the most important action of the island to attract foreign visitors and is organized by Mintur and its office in Mexico.
Its delegation will be composed of representatives of the Meliá hotel groups, Cubanacan, Hotel Royal Hicacos, Iberostar, Habaguanex, BlueBay and Gaviota.
Also for travel agencies Cubatur, Paradiso and San Cristobal, and the airlines flying to Cuba: Cubana Airlines, Aeromexico and Interjet.
Among the main objectives set for action are the promotion of Cuban destinations, through specially designed offers for the summer season, Mintur said in a press release.
The campaign will highlight the start of direct flights to Cayo Santa María, which is accessed through a 48-miles-long causeway connecting it to the mainland.
Cayo Santa María is in the center of the island; from there many towns can be visited and people can get in touch with customs, traditions, dances, and they can easily get to the museum-city of Trinidad, declared by UNESCO as World Heritage Site.
“Authentic Cuba” will also promote direct flights to Havana with Aeromexico, from the cities of Monterrey and Guadalajara.
Today Mexico is one of the main markets for Cuba’s tourism industry and has maintained its growth rate in recent years.
