Cuba presented to Belgian tourism professionals at the BTExpo-2021 exhibition its attractions and the measures adopted for the reactivation of the sector, with specialist Diana Rosa González, Tourism advisor of the Cuban embassy in France and Belgium, who is at the head of the group.

The forum, which met on Monday and Tuesday in the cities of Nivelles and Ghent, respectively, offered the opportunity to share with airlines, tour operators and travel agencies an update on Cuba and its products, said González to Prensa Latina.

González confirmed the interest of Belgian tourism professionals in Cuba, which reopened its borders to tourism on November 15th, after over two years of limitations derived from the global impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We explained that our sanitary protocols were significantly relaxed and that we can receive visitors in complete safety,” Gonzalez pointed out in relation to the disease control achieved by Cuba.

Gonzalez explained that airlines, tour operators and travel agencies got acquainted first-hand with the diversification of tourism modalities and the strengthening of infrastructure and the quality of service on the island, which made use of the pause caused by the Covid-19 to work on those goals.

The official addressed the dynamics of reservations in the current context of the reactivation of tourism promoted by Cuba, expected to take off at the beginning of next year, although movement is expected to resume since December.

The Covid-19 pandemic continues to threaten a sector severely hit in the last two years, with renewed uncertainty due to the outbreak of the disease in Europe, where the authorities are beginning to outline the return of some restrictions.
