Milan.-Following the success of last year’s digital edition, BIT 2022 is an authentic “round-the-world trip in three days” that will allow operators to deepen their knowledge of destinations and players and develop business opportunities.

Proximity with fantasy, in Italy from north to south
Once again this year, the aftermath of the pandemic and international uncertainties are leading to a rediscovery of outdoor holidays. Locations in the countryside, far from the crowds, amidst art, tradition, good food and relaxation.

Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Liguria, Lombardy, Marche, Molise, Piedmont, Puglia, Sardinia, Sicily, Tuscany, Umbria and Veneto have confirmed their slow and sustainable proposals.

Organizations such as the Associazione Dimore Storiche Italiane (Association of Italian Historic Houses) or the Fondazione Arena di Verona (Arena of Verona Foundation) consortia and venues including Bellagio, Bergamo, Bibione, Biella-Vercelli-Valsesia, Bormio, Brescia, Campi Flegrei, Cuneo, Cilento, Dolomites, Fermo, Lignano, Novara, Penisola Sorrentina, Portofino, Tigullio, Valli del Canavese, Venice and Volterra, numerous municipalities, provinces and chambers of commerce, as well as food and wine “routes” such as the Radicchio Rosso di Treviso and Variegato di Castelfranco routes and the Franciacorta Wine Route will be present.

This is a great commitment from local authorities and other public-private players that at BIT 2022 will be supported by ENIT, the National Tourism Agency, which promotes the beauty of Italy around the world in a unified and innovative way.

Innovation and sustainability around the world
Innovation and sustainability are confirmed as the main focus of BIT 2022 also for the international offer: from parks and nature experiences in our European neighboring countries such as the Canary Islands, Formentera, Germany, Greece, Malta, Romania, San Marino, and Slovenia, to environmentally sustainable resorts in the South Seas of Cuba, the Maldives, Malaysia, Mauritius, and Thailand; from spectacular excursions in Egypt, Jordan, India, Iran, Israel, or Morocco to socially responsible holidays in Brazil or Chile, with a special mention for the American “great outdoors” represented by Visit USA.

Both for the international and for Italy, the key role of BIT 2022 in person for the re-launch of the sector is confirmed by the ASTOI Village, a wide-ranging project which for the first time together will host up to 20 associated tour operators including Alpitour, Alidays, Futura Vacanze, Guiness Travel, Ota Viaggi, Viaggi del Mappamondo. Numerous other tour operators and networks will be present with their stands at the event, from historic names such as Gattinoni, Nicolaus, Uvet or Welcome Travel, to emerging ones such as Omega Viaggi and Shiruq Viaggi.

Other players include national carriers, such as Trenord, and international ones, such as Air Europa, American Airlines, British Airways, TAP Air Portugal or the airline Binter, and cruise operators such as Costa Crociere, MSC and Norwegian Cruise Line.

Thanks to the intense scouting activity carried out by Fiera Milano, a total of 893 exhibitors (12% from abroad from 31 countries) will be able to count on the presence at BIT 2022 of the most important Italian distributors for their business meetings, and on a hosting program that will bring to Milan highly-profiled buyers from 47 countries representing all the most important categories, in particular from Europe (36%) and North America (16%), as well as Central and South America, the Middle East and Africa. Top countries of origin: United States, Brazil, United Arab Emirates, Argentina, Germany, Netherlands and Spain.

An even more green and innovative edition
The commitment to sustainability does not end with giving visibility to exhibitors’ proposals. In fact, BIT 2022 will also adopt more sustainable practices in preparing and implementing the event: for example, the use of more easily recyclable or reusable materials and initiatives to reduce energy consumption, also with a view to a future certification process. The very practices will also be promoted and made easier for exhibitors to apply.

The rich schedule of conferences, conventions and in-depth seminars will also push even harder on the sustainable innovation accelerator, thanks to the underlying theme “Bringing Innovation Into Travel” which will run through 5 macro-areas: Hot Topics, Food Travel, Travel Lab, Sustainability, and Travel Tech.

Despite this particular period for the sector, the multi-target formula of BIT Milano confirms its uniqueness and ability to evolve, adopting innovation across the board both as an effective platform for the meeting of international supply and demand, and with opportunities for comparison and dialogue that are fundamental for learning about emerging trends.

The appointment with BIT 2022 is at fieramilanocity to Tuesday 12 April 2022. Monday and Tuesday reserved for operators.
