Hurricane Ian, which reached category 3 as it entered the westernmost part of Cuba -Isla de la Juventud and Pinar del Rio- in the early hours of today, has mainly affected the electrical networks in the provinces of Artemisa and Pinar del Rio. Strong gusts of wind and rain continue.

Once again, Cuba has put into practice its outstanding civil defense system and preparation for weather contingencies and natural disasters, with the main goal of safeguarding all people.

In the provinces of Havana, Matanzas and Mayabeque, there have been strong gusts of wind and intense rain. The 100% of the guests who are staying at Blue Diamond Resorts hotels are safe and well.

Fortunately, in the Cayo Largo destination, where Blue Diamond Resorts is preparing for the reopening in November, there have been no damages. As soon as the rains stops, the renovations and maintenance works of the entire hotel and non-hotel infrastructure will be resumed.

We will continue to provide updated information in the coming hours on the situation in the country and in our hotels after the passage of Hurricane Ian.
