LAN Airlines (Chile) and TAM Airlines (Brazil) wants new air group
Santiago de Chile.- Chile and Brazil airlines open negotiations about a possible association agreement under a single parent company, Chilean press sources says.
If LAN Airlines (Chile) and TAM Airlines (Brazil) sign an agreement about it, would result in the first air group in Latin America and the eleventh in the world regarding size, profitability and market coverage.
The new consortium would operate as LATAM Airlines Group and coordinate the operations of LAN Airlines and its branches in Peru, Argentina and Ecuador. It will also run LAN CARGO and its branches, TAM Airlines, TAM Mercosur and all branches of the two companies.
The consortium would be able to provide services to more than 115 destinations in 23 countries, using a fleet of 220 planes and a staff of nearly 40,000 employees. (Source: Chilean press)
