Dominican Republic Senator recommended expropriate Bahia de las Aguilas to resolve litigation

Santo Domingo.- Pedernales province (SW) in Dominican Republic senator Dionis Sanchez asked the Executive Branch to declare Bahia de las Aguilas area s coastal lands eminent domain and expropriate them, to resolve the litigation that affects them.
Sanchez said that court battle halts Pedernales’ and the South region’s development, as investors fear placing capital in that area, which he affirms has great potential. "Many of the more than 600 “owners” of the coastal lands at Bahia de las Aguilas and Cabo Rojo don’t even know that they figure as proprietors and some of them aren’t from that place", the Senator added.
The lawmaker also affirmed that the Executive Branch had asked that those titles be voided and warned that the Pedernales authorities will do what it must to develop the entire region, because it cannot be suspended on particular interests. (Source: Dominican Today)
