Dominican Republic tourism minister ... Dominican Republic tourism minister warned about the rising price of jet fuel
Santo Domingo.- Tourism minister Francisco Javier Garcia warned that the rising price of jet fuel (avtur) can have a negative effects on the country’s top industry, with annual income of US$4.0 billion.Garcia said to the press in the National Palace after meeting with president Leonel Fernandez, that the price of avtur is the highest in the region which in his view prompts airlines to go to other places to refuel.
The official added the price of avtur constitutes a threat for the tourism industry, and would meet with the Minister of Industry and Commerce to treat the thorny topic, adding that Government looks to solve the problem.
The Minister of Tourism revealed that in yesterday’s meeting with Fernandez they coordinated the inaugurals of new projects, including a hotel of more than 600 rooms in Puerto Plata and the start of the second and third stages of several projects in Las Terrenas, Samana. (Source: Zoom picture)
