Polish American Travel Convention in Antigua and Barbuda
ST. JOHN'S, Antigua - The Society of Polish American Travel Agents (SPATA) headquartered in New York, has selected Antigua and Barbuda as the venue for its 51st Annual Convention.
The society has a membership of over 150 active and associate member agencies, including travel agents, airlines, tour operators and other travel-related firms.
An Antigua daily said over 50 members of SPATA has arrived on island to attend the Annual Convention at The Jolly Beach Resort and Spa from September 12 - 19.
The official opening ceremony was held on Monday September 14, and Minister John Maginley made a keynote address.
According to Derede Samuel-Whitlock, Director of Tourism in the United States, the convention is "a great opportunity for our destination to align itself with an organization such as this which is located in New York City, one of our strongest markets".
"SPATA's reach within The Polish American market, a growing close knit community, is certainly one that we intend to tap into as we seek to explore new opportunities to promote Antigua and Barbuda as one of the Caribbean's premiere destinations", he added.
During the month of September and October, SPATA holds its annual conventions in different international destinations and in the past, these have included Mexico, Brazil, Finland, Italy and Bermuda. (Source: Cariseek)
