St. John's, Antigua. - June is the Month of Romance in Antigua and Barbuda, the site of this year's Celebrity Destination Wedding, held last Saturday.
Winners of the Destination Wedding Sweepstakes, Adrienne Scales and Myreon Smith from Atlanta, Georgia, exchanged nuptials at sunset, at a romantic sand ceremony organized by the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with other key industry stakeholders.
Celebrity stylist and fashion designer Indashio, winner of the first series of the VHI show "Glam God" was the "celebrity guest of honor" at this year's Destination Wedding.
Stylist to a host of celebrities included: Kim Kardashian, Kathy Lee Gifford, Lil' Kim, and Tyra Banks. Indashio brought his creative talents to "style" the bridal party and helped to bring a grand finale to the wedding celebration with a fashion show that showcased his 2009 collection.
Derede Samuel Whitlock, A&B’s Director of Tourism for the United States, believes that the promotion was very successful. "Despite the economic downturn, the wedding market is still thriving and we want to continue to promote some of the unique assets that the destination has to offer in the romance category. We are one of the only Caribbean islands with the ability to facilitate "same day" weddings, and this promotion allowed us to highlight this as a competitive advantage", said.
