Barbados' Tourism Taking Advantage of Cricket Legends
Bridgetown. - Cricket legends in Barbados are contributing a big deal to the local tourism, noted minister Richard Sealy at the opening of The Cricket Legends of Barbados Inc.'s (CLOBI) Airport store.
"Other destinations are copying us; now inviting their past cricketers to come up and be part of their exercise in trying to get into the markets that are Commonwealth-based, particularly the UK markets," said Sealy in reference to the participation of Cricket legends Garfield Sobers, Desmond Haynes and Wes Hall at the recently-held World Travel Market.
The minister revealed that the home of the Legends, Herbert House, in Fontabelle, would be transformed into a cricket museum. Sealy added that the government, through the Barbados Tourism and Investment Inc., has put substantial resources to the project for it to "become a legitimate tourist attraction".
