CTO New Chair Urged to Maintain Tourism's Strong Position in the Caribbean

St. John's.- Minister of Tourism of Antigua & Barbuda, Harold Lovell, the new elected chairman of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) council of ministers and commissioners of tourism, urged members to do their best "to ensure that tourism in the Caribbean maintains its strong position".
In a press release, Lovell called to use creative energies to renovate strategies in order to give local tourism a new look in this challenging times.
Lovell took over St Lucia's Minister of Tourism, Allen Chastanet, who chaired the CTO for two years.
In addition to Lovell's post, six other positions were taken to the polls according to the CTO constitution. The Barbados-based organization is made up of 30 governments plus several private sector entities. The Caribbean's tourism development agency has also offices in New York, London and Toronto.
Earlier this month, the CTO launched a database of consultants on its website www.onecaribbean.org with the objectives of promoting the experience of both Caribbean and international consultants and specialists as well as assisting Caribbean governments and the private sector to properly use the services of tourism consultants and experts.
