Barbuda to Encourage Young People to Train in Hotel Sector
"We want to utilize the hotel training school to train some of our people in Antigua. What we are looking at is that you can have a batch of people going to the hotel institute on a daily basis," he noted. The Barbuda Council is currently in consultation with the Legal Affairs Department in order to seek guidance as the island's has received several proposals for the expansion of hotels.
"We are going to put in some performance clauses because we want to see if people are really interested in investing. We are sitting with them to see how we can draft the issues that we have," Jones told the Sun. The Chairman of the Barbuda Council stressed that for the appropriate functioning of the hospitality industry, both a high quality product and trained people are needed.
"This will help the tourism product where you have people trained to deliver the kind of service that is expected from these high end hotels. That's what we are pushing towards."
