A new tourism program started in Trinidad, Cuba
According to Cuban tourism authorities, Cuba has a vast offer of sun and sand tourism, with options ranging from the popular beaches to the isolated inlets where time seems to stop. Add to that the options for historical and heritage tourism, making the knowledge of Cuban culture the third reason for tourists travel to the island.
Trinidad is located in the south central region of Cuba and was the third village founded by Spanish conquistadors in 1514. Next to its 500 years, the city is receiving the benefits of an ambitious renovation of buildings of great heritage value, and also in housing, and cultural institutions.
On the periphery of the city, they have been working on archaeological sites, including several places like the sugar mill of “San Isidro de los Destiladeros”, an exponent of the sugar development achieved by the region in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.Trinidad was recognized in 1988 by UNESCO as Cultural Patrimony of Humanity, for being an inhabited urban center best preserved in Latin America.
