Cuban tourism authorities Promotes Golf Competition
Havana.- The Cuban Ministry of Tourism announced the 4th Montecristo Cup International Tournament, scheduled for March 19 to 21 in the Varadero Golf Club, located about 80 miles east of the capital.Cuban tourism authorities intend to increase the variety of its offer through the development of golf competitions, which is one of the strategies to sustain the increasing spiral of this industry, reports Cuba agency Prensa Latina.
The 4th Montecristo Cup International Tournament will have three categories in competition, two for men and one for women, announced executives of the Ministry of Tourism.
This event, with annual meetings since 2009 in Varadero beach, promotes and helps to strengthen Cuban tourism, and reaffirm official statements that tend to develop this practice with the possibility of investments to expand it.
Cuban officials said they are negotiating with international companies to build 16 golf courses as a strategy to diversify the supply of the industry.
In Cuba, there are two golf courses: the Varadero Golf Club with 18 holes and 69 hectares, and the Capdevila Golf Club, in Havana, which is smaller. (Source: Prensa Latina)
